Triple Whale vs Polar Analytics

Two ecommerce analytics and attribution platforms that both tie price to annual GMV: Polar publishes its GMV bands, while Triple Whale publishes only starting prices. Compared on pricing, attribution, integrations and contract terms, with no declared winner.

Quick answer

No winner yet. Triple Whale and Polar Analytics differ most in architecture and intended operating model. Use this researched comparison to decide which deserves a hands-on pilot—not as a substitute for one.

Architecture and target user

Triple Whale

Ecommerce analytics and AI platform built on its Triple Pixel, with multi-touch attribution, a BI suite with SQL editor, the Sonar data-enrichment tools and Moby, its AI operator. Compass adds MMM and incrementality testing.

Worth investigating for Shopify-led brands that want to start on a free plan, and for teams that want MTA, MMM and incrementality in one system as they grow.

Polar Analytics

Ecommerce BI and attribution on a dedicated Snowflake database per customer, with a semantic layer, a server-side first-party pixel, Klaviyo Audiences, ad-platform conversion signals and an MCP layer for AI tools.

Worth investigating for brands that want published GMV-band pricing, their own Snowflake warehouse, and per-test incrementality studies without an annual MMM product.

Ease and implementation considerations

01

Triple Whale

Triple Whale says most brands are set up in about 15 minutes with no engineer. Dedicated implementation specialists are listed for qualifying accounts on Automate and Enterprise.

02

Polar Analytics

Every plan includes a dedicated success manager, a Slack channel and live chat, per Polar's pricing page. Incrementality tests come with a dedicated data scientist.

These are research observations, not timing or usability test results. Implementation depends on catalog, data migration, design, channels, integrations, internal skills, and partner scope.

Ecosystem and integrations

Triple Whale

Integrations listed for Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Stripe, major ad platforms, Klaviyo and Attentive, Amazon, Recharge and Skio, Gorgias, ShipBob and ShipStation, plus data-in and data-out APIs and an MCP connection for AI tools.

Polar Analytics

Polar's connector directory lists 300+ ecommerce tools, including Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, Meta, Google, Klaviyo, Postscript and Gorgias. It says some connectors may carry a small extra cost.

Pricing approach

Triple Whale: Free, Foundation, Automate and Enterprise. The pricing page says paid prices depend on annual GMV and package, but shows no figures. The Shopify App Store lists Foundation at $219/month or $2,190/year and Automate at $749/month or $7,490/year. Enterprise is through sales. Checked Oct 10, 2026.

Current Triple Whale pricing

Polar Analytics: The Core Plan is priced on annual GMV. Polar's terms and Shopify App Store listing say it starts at $750/month under $5M. The pricing page's GMV calculator lists $720/month under $5M and $1,020 for $5M to $7.5M. Paying 10 months upfront buys 12 months. Checked Oct 10, 2026.

Current Polar Analytics pricing

Both tie price to annual GMV, but only Polar shows its bands. Triple Whale's only public figures are App Store starting prices, so get its quote for your GMV in writing before you compare.

Build a scenario-based total-cost model. Include implementation, ongoing labor, extensions, communications or payments, support, and migration—not only the published base price.

Worked example

Year-one cost at $1M and $5M of annual GMV

Entry paid plans only: Triple Whale Foundation against Polar Core. Both include multi-touch attribution, BI dashboards, email audience enrichment and ad-platform conversion signals. No add-ons or incrementality tests.

Triple Whale does not publish a price for a GMV band, so its rows use the Shopify App Store figure, which may be its lowest band.

Year oneTriple Whale FoundationPolar Core
$1M GMV, paid monthly$219 × 12 = $2,628 (App Store starting price)$750 × 12 = $9,000
$1M GMV, paid annually$2,190$750 × 10 = $7,500
$5M GMV, paid monthlyNot published; quote required$1,020 × 12 = $12,240
$5M GMV, paid annuallyNot published; quote required$1,020 × 10 = $10,200

List prices checked Oct 10, 2026. Triple Whale: Foundation $219/month or $2,190/year on its Shopify App Store listing; its pricing page says prices vary by GMV but shows none. Polar: $750/month under $5M from its terms and App Store listing (the pricing-page calculator shows $720, or $8,640 a year monthly); $1,020/month for the $5M–$7.5M band from the pricing-page calculator. Polar's annual prepay is 10 months for 12. A brand at exactly $5M should ask Polar which band applies. Excludes taxes and add-ons.

What decides it. At $1M, Triple Whale's published starting price is lower, but it may not be the price for a $1M brand. At $5M, only Polar shows a number. Get Triple Whale's GMV-band quote in writing, then compare it with Polar's band.

Terms

Contract terms that cost buyers money

Triple Whale. Its pricing page says paid plans are 12-month subscriptions, billed monthly or annually with two months free. Its website terms say the default is month-to-month unless agreed in writing, so check your order form. Fees stay due until you give 30 days' notice of termination or non-renewal.

Triple Whale GMV growth. If revenue grows, you move to the plan for your new tier, with advance notice. Annual prepay locks your tier for the year.

Polar. Its terms default to month-to-month, cancellable before the next bill date. Annual or multi-year terms stay payable for the full committed term. Renewals can happen tacitly; non-renewal needs email notice at least 5 days before the term ends.

Polar price changes. Polar can change price only at renewal, with 60 days' notice, and can revise its GMV rate card. It may also offer a flat price on a committed total GMV, with any true-up set in the order form.

Measurement add-ons

Add-on costs beyond the base plan

Polar publishes incrementality pricing by GMV. Under $5M, a test is $4,000, the first test $3,200, or a quarterly plan at $300/month plus $2,560 per test. From $5M to $10M, those are $5,000, $4,000 and $300 plus $3,200.

Triple Whale sells Compass (MMM and incrementality), Retention, Conversion and data-warehouse sync as add-ons through sales, with no published prices. Compass is included on Enterprise. See the analytics desk for other options.

What to check in a side-by-side trial

  • Ask Triple Whale for a written quote at your GMV, monthly and annual.
  • Ask Polar which GMV band applies and whether it uses the $720 or $750 figure.
  • Install both pixels in a trial and compare attributed orders against Shopify orders.
  • Check that every ad, email and marketplace source you use is on each connector list.
  • Read each order form for term length, renewal notice and how GMV growth changes price.
