Quick verdict
Flexport Omni-Channel Fulfillment is worth investigating for the use cases below, but this is not a scored or final recommendation. BestStorefront has researched its public documentation; hands-on workflow, support, billing, and reliability testing are still pending.
Fit
Best for
- Merchants who want published rate-card mechanics to model before talking to sales.
- Brands whose fulfillment spend is likely to exceed the $5,000 monthly minimum that applies to all accounts from Jan 1, 2026.
- Sellers that want receiving, packaging material and transportation bundled into domestic fulfillment base rates.
Limits
Who should skip it or consider alternatives
- Merchants whose qualifying monthly spend would sit well below $5,000—Flexport bills the shortfall. Flexport says it expects mainly merchants under roughly 500 orders a month to be affected.
- Brands with slow-moving inventory should model long-term storage (>365 days) and Q4 storage rates carefully.
- Buyers looking for freight forwarding: that is a separate Flexport business not covered here.
Product role
What it does
Flexport Omni-Channel Fulfillment is Flexport’s ecommerce fulfillment service—warehousing, pick and pack, and delivery for online orders. It is distinct from Flexport’s freight forwarding business, and this preview covers fulfillment only. Pricing follows a published rate card.
Bundled base rates
Domestic fulfillment base rates include standard inbound receiving, inventory placement (for unit-based pricing), pick and pack, packaging material and transportation.
Unit- or zone-based fulfillment
Unit-based pricing charges per unit by item size and units per order; zone-based pricing charges per package by package size and distance.
Seasonal storage
$0.81 per cubic foot per 30 days January–September, $2.40 October–December, with a $0.10 daily minimum per DSKU.
Returns
Return-to-sender processing is $3/unit; label and carrier costs are separate.
Connections
Integrations and ecosystem
Commerce channel integrations and their depth are not summarized in this preview. Confirm connectors for your storefront and marketplaces, and how orders, inventory and returns sync, during evaluation.
Commercial terms
Pricing: verify the current offer
Flexport publishes rate-card mechanics for Omni-Channel Fulfillment. Domestic fulfillment base rates bundle receiving, placement (unit-based), pick and pack, packaging material and transportation, priced either per unit or per package by zone. Peak surcharges may apply. Storage is $0.81/cu ft per 30 days Jan–Sep and $2.40/cu ft Oct–Dec; inventory older than 365 days is charged $6.90/cu ft per 30 days or a $0.15/unit minimum. From Jan 1, 2026, a $5,000 monthly minimum applies to all accounts (it was $500). Flexport assesses it against total non-D2C-storage spend—fulfillment, reserve storage, parcel, freight booked in its portal, pallet/case handling, label services, prep and card processing—and bills any shortfall on the next month’s first invoice. Exact merchant rate cards may differ—especially for discounted merchants—so use your own rate card or account manager. Checked against Flexport’s support pages on Oct 7, 2026.

Minimum mechanics
What the $5,000 minimum means
Flexport assesses the $5,000 minimum against a month’s total non-D2C-storage spend: fulfillment, reserve storage, parcel, freight booked in its portal, pallet/case handling, label services, prep and card processing. D2C storage does not count toward it. If that spend is $3,800, Flexport bills the $1,200 shortfall on the next month’s first invoice—an arithmetic illustration, not a quote. Flexport says it expects mainly merchants under roughly 500 orders a month to be affected. Seasonal brands should model their slowest month, not their average.
Scope
Network and B2B context
Flexport’s pricing overview also publishes Reserve Storage and wholesale (B2B) rates—for example pallet storage from $14–$15 in the first month, a $7 B2B order fee, $200/month per EDI connection and $500/month retailer-portal management. International delivery is offered duty-unpaid, or duty-paid via partners. Facility locations are not summarized here.
Needs a real quote
Questions only a quote and pilot can answer
- Your actual receiving, storage, pick/pack and additional-item rates for your SKU dimensions and order profile.
- Shipping cost by zone and service level for your real destination mix, and whether carrier rates are marked up.
- Monthly minimums, peak surcharges, and how they apply in low-volume months.
- Returns, kitting, custom packaging and special-project charges for your products.
- Inventory accuracy, shrinkage and lost-inventory policies, SLAs, and credits when SLAs are missed.
- Contract term, termination notice, and inventory removal or exit costs.
Pros and tradeoffs
Research observations
Modelable before a call
Published storage and minimum mechanics allow a first-pass model without a sales cycle.
Q4 storage step-up
Storage roughly triples per cubic foot in Oct–Dec; inventory planning directly moves cost.
Minimum sets a floor
The $5,000 monthly minimum fulfillment spend makes this a poor fit for very low volumes.
Your rate card governs
Flexport notes merchant rate cards may differ; published figures are a baseline, not your price.
Shortlist
Alternatives to investigate
ShipBob
Quote-based 3PL; software and turnkey integrations stated as free.
ShipMonk
Quote-based 3PL whose minimum is derived from your first-item pick fee.
Self-fulfillment
Worth modeling if spend would sit below the monthly minimum.

Hands-on agenda
What we still need to test
- Request a quote using one standardized BestStorefront order profile (SKUs, dimensions, weights, units/order, destinations, seasonality).
- Normalize the quote into modeled monthly cost, cost per order, and annual total with the fulfillment cost calculator.
- Run a pilot: send inbound inventory, time receiving to available-to-sell, and audit counts.
- Place test orders across zones and service levels; record pick accuracy, ship time, packaging, and tracking.
- Process returns and a lost-package claim; document billing line items against the quote.
- Export inventory and order data and document the removal/exit procedure.
Standard fulfillment / 3pl protocol — tasks every product in this category goes through:
- Complete onboarding and channel connection
- Send an inbound shipment and track receiving
- Check inventory accuracy and sync
- Fulfill test orders and review tracking
- Process a return
- Reconcile the invoice against the quote and rate card
No score or final verdict will be added until this work is complete.

Decision support
Frequently asked questions
Is this Flexport freight forwarding?
No. This preview covers Flexport Omni-Channel Fulfillment, its ecommerce fulfillment service, not freight forwarding.
Does Flexport fulfillment have a minimum?
Yes. Starting Jan 1, 2026, a $5,000 monthly minimum applies to all accounts. It counts most spend except D2C storage, and any shortfall is billed on the next month’s invoice.
Are the published rates what I will pay?
Not necessarily. Flexport notes exact merchant rate cards may differ, especially for discounted merchants. Use your rate card or account manager.
What changed
