Reviews and UGC apps

Product review apps collect, display and syndicate customer reviews and photos. Shopify retired its own Product Reviews app, so every Shopify store now needs a third-party app for reviews. Prices range from free to several hundred dollars a month at the same order volume, so the cost model matters as much as the features.

Quick answer

Judge.me is the low-cost option: a free plan with unlimited review requests and a flat $15/month paid plan at any order volume, now on Shopify only. Loox focuses on photo and video reviews, Okendo and Yotpo add broader UGC and loyalty options at higher, order-based prices, and Stamped has separate Shopify and direct price lists. At 3,000 orders a month, the apps here range from $15 to $329. Prices were checked on each vendor's own page or Shopify App Store listing on Oct 7, 2026; none of these apps has been tested hands-on, and none is ranked.

Worked example

Monthly cost at two order volumes

The plan each app needs to send review requests on 500 and 3,000 orders a month, at list prices. Taxes and SMS costs are excluded.

App (plan needed)500 orders/month3,000 orders/month
Judge.me$0 Free or $15 Awesome (flat)$0 Free or $15 Awesome (flat)
Yotpo Reviews$89 Starter (up to 500 orders)$329 Pro (Starter stops at 1,000 orders)
Loox$99.99 Convert ($49.99 + one $50 block of 300 orders)$299.99 Unlimited (Convert would be $49.99 + 9 × $50 = $499.99)
Okendo$119 Growth (up to 1,500 orders)$299 Power (up to 3,500 orders)
Stamped (Shopify plans)$99 Reviews 1k (up to 1,000 orders)$199 Reviews 5k (up to 5,000 orders)

Editorial calculation, Oct 7, 2026. Yotpo prices come from the order-volume slider on its website; its Shopify App Store listing shows lower entry tiers ($15 and $119) that apply to the smallest volumes. Okendo is about 8% less on annual billing.

Context

Google store ratings

Google's Merchant Center help says a store generally needs at least 100 eligible, unique reviews for a store rating, ratings are calculated per country, and a rating of 3.5 or above is required to show a store rating on ads. Review apps differ in whether and how they send reviews to Google, so check this if Google Shopping matters to you.

Framework

How to compare review apps

01

Price driver

Most review apps price by monthly orders; Judge.me's paid plan is a flat $15. Price your peak month, not your average.

02

Collection

Review-request emails and reminders, SMS where offered, and how photo and video reviews are requested.

03

Display

Star ratings, review widgets, photo galleries and Q&A, and their effect on page speed.

04

Google

Syndication to Google Shopping product ratings and Google's own store-rating thresholds.

05

Bundled products

Loyalty, referrals or UGC galleries can replace separate apps, or add cost you don't need.

06

Platforms

Judge.me, Loox and Okendo are now Shopify-only; Yotpo also supports Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

07

Import and export

Moving reviews between apps is common; confirm both directions before you commit.

08

Moderation

Policies for negative reviews, incentivized reviews and verification labels.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best product review app for Shopify?

It depends on budget and needs. Judge.me is free or $15/month flat, Loox centers on photo and video reviews, and Okendo and Yotpo add broader UGC and loyalty options at order-based prices.

Does Shopify have a free reviews app?

Not any more. Shopify's Product Reviews app is no longer available on the Shopify App Store; a Shopify staff post says it was delisted on Sept 5, 2023. Judge.me's free plan is the common free alternative.

Judge.me or Yotpo?

On price, Judge.me: its paid plan is $15/month at any volume, while Yotpo's Starter was $89 at 500 orders a month on our check. Yotpo supports more ecommerce platforms and offers a separate loyalty product.

Have you tested these apps?

Not yet. These are independent editorial overviews based on first-party pricing pages and listings; hands-on testing is pending.
